A lesson in clumsiness

I’ve played floor hockey for a very long time and only recently started playing co-ed. Men don’t seem to care that I weigh half of what they weigh in this sport – they go for the body checks anyway! A couple of years ago I played against a particularly aggressive team and despite being checked into the boards and injured, I continued playing (against my better judgment). Near the end of the game I got elbowed – hard – and got myself a lovely black eye. Of course this wasn’t my fault but I had to go around for a few days with a black eye and delicately explain to people that I wasn’t in need of an intervention because my husband was not beating me!
