No worrying!

There are many things in life that are constant. There’s always 24 hours in a day.The sun always comes up in the morning-even if you can’t see it. There will always be something in life that brings me concern.
Earlier in my life, I began to obsess about things that didn’t go according to plan. Schedule changes, unexpected detours, even a machine that malfunctioned would throw me into a tail spin. I could not function like this.
I was so taken by worrying about things beyond my control, that I did not have time or desire to truly focus on the things or people in my life that truly mattered. I worried about everything to the point that I couldn’t see the good things that I had been blessed with.
My daughter made me realize the error of this one day. She was small, maybe 5 or 6. She had asked me to play with her. When I hesitated, she commented. “It’s ok, mommy, I know you have to worry.” I blinked in surprise, and went to play. Those innocent words have changed my life. I don’t have to worry or fret. I choose not to, but to enjoy life’s blessings instead. I choose to think about things I can do something about. I choose to let go of the need to control everything in my life.
