How I ruined my boyfriend’s car

Have you ever been in someone’s car and forgot to let the window up? No, well that probably because you were in your designated seat, meaning the seat you were responsible for and in view of, so it wasn’t a problem. And, if you had forgotten, you would’ve gotten out of the car, saw your mistake and then fixed it. I, on the other hand, wasn’t. It was before winter break and the guy I was seeing, which is now my current boyfriend, was pulling into the parking lot by his dorm. In an instant he told me to get out of the car and to come around on the other side. Now to anyone else this might’ve been a simple task but since I was a non-driver, still am, I felt I was being given a task I wasn’t ready for so I gracefully declined. And instead of letting it go, like I thought he would, he suggested it again and continued to until I agreed. Once I’d don’t what he instructed, he closed the door and told me to let down the window. Now, in my defense, it was really dark in his dark so I wasn’t sure of what button to press so I just started pressing things on the side of the door until the front window came down. Then he started to give me instructions: keep your foot on the break; fix this, move that, etc. After that, he said that’s it. He said this was a pre-Christmas present for me who was just to sit in the driver’s seat and pretend I had ownership of the car. You can imagine the look on my face when I was told this. But afterwards, I was then given instructions on what to do before I got out of the car and, because he loved his car so much, there were a bunch of things I had to make sure were secure. Mind you, he was giving these instructions outside of the car by the driver seat window. Soon we came to the part of letting up the window so I pressed the button I had previously and got out of the car. He took one last look at it and then we continued on to his dorm. It rained that night.

The next morning I wake up to find his picture on my phone. He was calling me. Now seeing as he’s never done this before, I should’ve thought to question picking up the phone but I was infatuated at that period that I thought nothing of it and answered it. Apparently, I’d left the passenger window down allowing the rain to get in the car which then led to stains and mildew smells. He ended up having to get new seat covers for the first week, but seeing as he loved his car so much, I ended up paying for it to be cleaned. So, the moral of the story is, don’t touch you’re boyfriend’s/friend’s/etc…vehicle no matter how many times they persist.
